It is very important to consult a gynecologist especially if you have certain conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or a history of complications in a previous pregnancy.

2. Take vitamins for pregnant women

When planning a pregnancy, women will generally be advised to take vitamins to prepare a healthy fetus. If you haven't done it, it's never too late. Do it right now. Vitamins that are very important to be consumed by pregnant women and expectant mothers are vitamins that contain folic acid, iron, and calcium. This nutrient can reduce the risk of your baby having birth defects, such as spina bifida, cleft lip, or heart abnormalities.

3. Stay away from cigarette smoke

If before smoking you like smoking, it is advisable to immediately stop these bad habits. Toxic substances in cigarettes can increase the risk of placental disorders, premature births, stunted fetal growth, miscarriage, birth defects, or fetuses die in the womb. In addition to not smoking, you also need to avoid cigarette smoke from people who smoke around you.

4. Consumption of balanced nutritious food

This is a mandatory rule that you must fulfill while pregnant. A balanced nutritious diet consisting of carbohydrates, protein, fat, and vitamins and minerals can help the initial process of forming the fetus to grow healthy. Some examples of foods that you can consume when you are pregnant are vegetables, nuts, whole grains (whole wheat bread, brown rice), and protein foods (eggs, lean meats, fish, milk and processed products). You are advised to avoid raw, undercooked, or unpasteurized products. Also avoid alcoholic beverages and limit caffeinated drinks. Do not consume caffeine more than 200 mg or the equivalent of 1 cup of coffee per day.

5. Drink plenty of water

It is very important to maintain adequate body fluids during pregnancy to prevent dehydration. You are advised to drink about 2 liters of water every day. But if you do strenuous activities, drink more water. To find out if your body has enough water intake, just look at the color of your urine. If it is pale yellow or clear, then your body has enough fluids.

6. Sleep early

Being pregnant may make you feel more tired than usual. So, you are advised to get more rest. One way is to sleep early. A health study in pregnant women shows that pregnant women who sleep less than 6 hours per day are more at risk of experiencing various problems in pregnancy and complications in childbirth. Therefore, pregnant women are advised to have an ideal sleep time, which is for 7-9 hours every night.

7. Stay away from activities that endanger pregnancy

There are a number of activities or homeworks that risk your current condition. Examples are cleaning pet feces, moving or lifting heavy furniture, cleaning homes with chemical cleaning products, and spraying the room with mosquito repellent. Even though it looks like you have a lot to do, don't make the above things a burden that makes you stressed or scared, yes. Pregnant women are forbidden to stress. So, just take it easy and enjoy every moment that happens during this first trimester. Also, don't forget to undergo a routine pregnancy check-up to the obstetrician to monitor your condition and your fetus.
